I hope that everyone had a good Christmas and New Year. It was terrific to see some local community groups include Foresthall Park in the festive celebrations – my thanks to both the Stort Valley Rotary Club for bringing Santa round and also to the carol singers from Churches Together in Stansted. Both events were well received and generously supported by the local residents.
There are still many more homes to be built so the development will continue to get busier this year. In addition, the parish boundaries will be adjusted in April which means all of Foresthall Park will fall within the parish of Stansted and later this year the new primary school will open it’s doors. The latter probably presents the biggest challenge (and opportunity) for Foresthall Park and I read the recently published Community Plan with interest (now online at www.stansted.net). There is a separate section on Foresthall Park and it is good that the Parish Council have acknowledged many of the concerns expressed by residents so far. I am optimistic that we’ll see movement on some of the projects outlined to mitigate these concerns in the near future as there is a significant sum of money (section 106 Highways and Section 106 Community Pot) that has already been put aside to finance such projects. With that in mind, it is important that the residents of Foresthall Park have a say in where they feel some of this money should be spent as it will not be possible to finance every project on the wish list. I have arranged a general meeting open to all Foresthall Park residents at the MMCC on Thursday Feb 16th at 7:30pm to discuss this and also allow me to provide updates on some of the other issues raised in our first meeting last July. I hope that we’ll also have some representation from our local councillors and the Parish Council.
Newcomers to Foresthall Park are of course welcome to attend the meeting in Feb and we would be happy to add your details to our mailing list. In the meantime please sign up for regular updates on our website: www.foresthallparkresidents.org
